Footsteps Counselling and Support
Child and adolescent mental health is a subject hitting our news headlines almost every day. Your support provides us the opportunity to listen, help and provide guidance when things get tough.
We believe that the most important thing in life is the quality of our relationships with each other, the wider community and ourselves.
We are based in Mere Green, offering free one to one counselling and support to the community
At Footsteps we aim to give an opportunity to stop and pause, to catch your breath for a moment and consider how your life could be different or more fulfilling.
Often people are carrying burdens they cannot resolve, the burden becomes a worry and eventually you can become immersed in feelings or situations that seem to have power over you, it can reach a point where you feel overwhelmed and cannot see a way forward. Our counselling service provides a confidential, non- judgemental environment for you to explore any issues you may have.
At Footsteps we are passionate about providing our clients with a safe place to explore the issues that are causing problems in their life, we want every child to maximise their potential and believe that early intervention can provide a place of emotional solace and is invaluable in building brighter futures for the younger generation. For a young person, this process may have extra importance since it plays a vital part in providing a positive formative experience. Our aim is to create a respectful relationship where they can learn that they are valued for who they are, trusting and nurturing their ability to find the solutions that improve their symptoms and problems. Our counselling service is centered on the client’s needs in that it is an open-ended service and clients can use as many sessions that are productive and helpful for them.
We believe that the most important thing in life is the quality of our relationships with each other, the wider community and ourselves. We recognise that we all have the need to belong and the right to feel valued, but life events affect our view of the world and can dictate, at times, our reactions. We understand how clients can struggle to manage the difficult feelings they are experiencing, which can lead to physical symptoms of anxiety, anger, depression and panic attacks. These symptoms make life problematic for the client and those close to them and often lead to disruption in their school, family, work and social life. We want Footsteps to be a positive counselling experience and often it is the first time many youngsters have had a safe place to begin to unburden themselves from the issues and feelings they have been struggling to cope with and learn how their behaviour in relationships is impacting on those dear to them and develop better strategies to cope with the problems they face.
